On Saturday, in the town of Madison, Virginia, Shannon and Christopher were married! They got married at the cutest little church, Our Lady of the Blue Ridge Catholic Church, which was aptly named as it was surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains. Their family and friends celebrated with them in a gorgeous backyard wedding reception at Shannon’s parents’ house. And believe me, when I say, their house looks like it is straight out of a magazine! They had been working on renovating this house for years! According to her parents’ the house had basically been stripped and parts of it did not have any floors! When Greg and I received our first tour of it during Shannon and Christopher’s engagement session, we could already see the potential and could not wait to see the finished product!
As we entered the gorgeous house, everyone was buzzing around with excitement as they got ready and set everything up! All of Shannon’s bridesmaids and her mom could be found helping Shannon get ready by doing her hair and her makeup. They also serenaded her with quite the enthusiastic rendition of “Going to the Chapel!” It was quite the adorable moment!
The entire day, I was struck with how close and full of love Christopher and Shannon’s families were. There were so many times that I would look over and see one of them in a loving embrace or happy tears in their eyes! I always love it when our couples share such a close bond with their family! They seriously have so many wonderful marriage role models in their family between both their parents and siblings!
Shannon and her sister, Elizabeth, shared a beautiful relationship! They both wore matching bracelets for the wedding. Their parents’ had given the bracelets to them one Christmas as a gift and I love how they both wore them! Then during the mother/son dance, I noticed them in one of those loving embraces I already mentioned. It was such a sweet moment!
Though the rain threatened to fall all day, we were lucky enough to only experience the rain during the reception! But it was for the best, because it helped cool down the afternoon/evening, making for some awesome dancing pictures and perfect weather for Shannon and Christopher’s couple portraits!
Shannon and Christopher, we are so excited that you have begun your married life! We had an absolute pleasure capturing your gorgeous day and meeting your families! I hope to meet the 10 kids your best man, Frank, toasted to! 😉
Thank you so much to these incredible vendors who helped make Shannon and Christopher’s wedding day amazing!
